Just returned from the Frank Bass FORMS Conference at UTD, one of the better marketing conferences in my opinion. Somewhat surprised to see the number of analytical papers and interest in analytical modeling in the field. There was almost a 50/50 split in analytical/empirical papers being presented. Learned quite a lot from both presenters and discussants. Sometimes (even for my own paper), it seemed that the discussants were better at crystalizing the contribution of the paper in their brief summaries. Maybe every presentation should first be created for a 10 minute discussion?
In any case, I’m linking the program below for anyone interested and could not attend (the program has links to the working papers). I think my favorite (of the ones I could attend) was “The Impact of Curation Algorithms on Social Network Content Quality and Structure” by Ron Berman and Zsolt Katona.
